This is Theodore S. Hopkins, born 6 Sep 1862 to parents Alvin (a carpenter) and Eliza Jane Hopkins.

Husband of Sarah Amelia Baldwin (a great-aunt of Edna Adelina Baldwin, see previous post.) When I purchased this photo, I did not know that Theodore Hopkins and the Baldwins were related, but this small newspaper insert provided the clue that linked the families.

  • HOPKINS, Eliza Jane, 36, keeping house
  • HOPKINS, Theodore, son 17, clerk in wood factory
  • HOPKINS, Silas, son 13, clerk in a general store
  • HOPKINS, Frederick, son 5
  • HOPKINS, Eugene, son 2


1920 Census > NY > Nassau > Hempstead > Wantagh Rd

  • BALDWIN, Mary S., head, 87 wd, born in NY of NY parents
  • BALDWIN, James H., son, 62 s, born in NY, farmer
  • HOPKINS, Sarah A., daughter, 55 m, born in NY
  • HOPKINS, Theodore, son in law, 56 m, born in NY, bookkeeper in a newspaper office

I later found the obit for Mary Baldwin, providing further proof of Theodore's place in this family.


Theodore Hopkins died 16 June 1931 and buried next to his wife in Greenfield Cemetery.
