AASTERUD, Oscar N. (Glenwood WI)

Oscar N. Aasterud

IDENTIFICATION ON PHOTO: O. N. AASTERUD

PHOTO TAKEN: Bannister Photographer, Glenwood WI, abt Oct 1910

PHOTO ACQUIRED: Dec 2022, sent to me by my aunt who found the photo at a second hand shop in The Dalles OR

This is a photo which has been reprinted onto a postcard. I include a picture of the reverse here. It bears a cancelled 1-penny Ben Franklin stamp and the postmark reads: Spring Valley WIS, Oct 24 7am, 1911. The card is addressed to Miss Agnes Brevig, Starbuck RFD, Minnesota.

The message reads:

Spring Valley Wis, Oct 22, '11.

To let you know that I am still on the gain. Weather is very cold and damp here at present. This was taken about a year ago at Glenwood Wis. Greet your folks. Oscar. O.N. Aasterud

With such an unusual surname, I found Oscar right away at Findagrave (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/41211829/oscar-n-aasterud) and added a copy of this photo to his memorial there. Many of his siblings and other family members have photos at Findagrave, due to the wonderful efforts of the Pierce County (Wisconsin) Historical Association. Many of them greatly resemble Oscar.
