DUERR, Effie (St Charles IL)

EFFIE DUERR
IDENTIFICATION ON PHOTO: "Effie Duerr"
PHOTO TAKEN: Eisenberg Studio, St Charles IL, circa 1915-1917
PURCHASED: 2016 Hollywood Antiques, Eugene OR

The back also bears the name "Sadie" who is, I believe, the recipient of the photo, and might explain how the photo travelled from Illinois to Oregon.

Born Anna Julia Pearl Dykeman on 28 July 1885 in Kane County Illinois, she always went by "Effie". She appears to have lived her entre life in St. Charles Illinois.

Her parents were Peter Dykeman (1855-1916) & Anna Sofia Jonsson (1846-1922). Mother Anna had lots of family who settle in the area of Spokane Washington.

On 15 July 1915, Effie married Frank Henry Duerr (1889-1955), son of Jacob Duerr & Elizabeth Blacksmith, on July 13th, 1915, Kane Co., IL. The couple apparently had no children of their own, but adopted Lucille Nellie Golladay (b. 1916, dau of James Edward Golladay and Ella Irene Myers.
Her mother Ella died 16 days after Lucille was born. She later became Mrs. Ralph Ory).

Effie & Frank divorced sometime in the 1920s. Frank remarried to Elizabeth “Betty” Kitzendorf, with whom he had a daughter, Phyllis Ann Duerr, in 1929.

Effie had a brother Elmer Dykeman (1878 - 14 Dec 1960), who married Nellie Burns in 1904, and had a son Leo Dykeman (Dec 3 1905 - Jan 1976) who served in WWII as a staff sargent in the Army.

Effie Duerr's older sister Harriet Adele Dykeman married 1) Mark E. Davis, and 2) William Sanchez. She died in Palo Alto CA. With her first husband she had a son:
