This is Rosa Grossheim, born in Alton IL 3 Mar 1874, to parents Johann Joachim "Jacob" Grossheim (1828-1909) and Anna Maria "Mary" Meinard (1832-1908). The family is found on the 1880 Census.

Her husband Sebastian Miller died in 1924. This story on the news of his death appears in the Alton Evening Telegraph, 27 Feb 1924.

  1. Kathleen, thank you for posting this! I am the great great granddaughter of Rosa’s brother George, so she is a distant aunt of mine! We didn’t have a photo of her before and I also appreciate the obituaries you posted that give us a little more information about our family tree. Thank you so much!

  2. This is my almost 93 year old Mother’s grandmother. They called her ‘grossmutter’. I remember seeing her for the last time when I was about 5; by then she had suffered a stroke and was confined to bed. I loved hearing stories about her from my parents. My Mother is her son John’s daughter, Barbara.
