PAUL KEYSER SINGMASTER

Identification on photo: PAUL SINGMASTER

With such an unusual surname to work with, I was able to quickly locate this individual on Ancestry.com.

This is Paul Keyser Singmaster, born 14-July-1905 in Sellersville (Bucks County) PA to parents Leo Abraham Singmaster (1873-1947, son of Jeremiah and Mary Amanda Heft Singmaster) and Lena Keyser (1874-1953, daughter of Herman and Mary Ann Roth Keyser).

He had four sisters; Luella Singmaster-Texter, Emma Viola Singmaster-Weidner, Edith Singmaster and Esther R. Singmaster-Cummings.

1910 Census Pennsylvania > Bucks > Sellersville
SINGMASTER, Leo A, head, 36, born in PA of PA parents, packer at a cigar factory
SINGMASTER, Lena, wife, 36, mother of 4 children, born in PA of German & PA parents

SINGMASTER, E. Viola, 12, born in PA
SINGMASTER, Edith L, 7, born in PA

Paul married Edna Blanche Fresh (1915-1981). They had at least one daughter; Vivian Leona Singmaster (Aug 1940-1998).

He registered for the WWII draft but did not serve, having been born at a time that made him too young for WWI and too old for WWII. He worked as a tool maker for U.S. Gauge.

Paul died 21-Sep-1953, at the age of 48, due to heart disease, having lived his entire life in Sellersville. He is buried at St Michael's Cemetery in Sellersville.

UPDATE - 4 years later, and I returned to the same Antique mall to peruse their old photographs, and immediately saw an unusual surname that I recognized: SINGMASTER.

This is Paul's sister EDITH SINGMASTER, born in 1903.

In the 1930 Census, she is found as a cashier at a restaurant in Asbury Park, NJ, single, and boarding with a married friend Rilla Shuck.

In 1937, she married John V. CONOVER in NJ. He is identified in the 1940 Census as a truck driver for the AP Press.
